nazsquare peterDear Parents

On behalf of Fr Bryan Jones Parish Priest, the staff, children and parents of the school I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you and your family to Nazareth Catholic Primary School. I hope the information available within this website will provide for you an insight into this dynamic Catholic learning community, which is Nazareth school.

Nazareth Catholic Primary School had its foundation in the purchase of a significant parcel of land during the mid 1990s. The land bordered by Glider Ave to the south and College Ave to the west is now positioned in a very central location to Shellharbour City Centre. The land was purchased with the explicit purpose of building a new parish church and a new Catholic primary school.

Parish Priest Fr Bryan Jones has overseen the construction of the school in various stages over 10 years and in more recent time has overseen the construction of the new All Saints Parish Church. With the church’s opening in 2012, All Saints Parish Church and Nazareth Catholic Primary School now sit adjacent to each other on the one parcel of land. The result of many years of dedicated work from the local Shellharbour parishioners and other agencies and people across the Wollongong Diocese, is an outstanding facility allowing for sacred worship and quality education.

Sister Anne Taylor was appointed the foundation Principal of Nazareth in 1999 and initially with Jennifer Jancetic as the first staff member and Gary Quinn as the first Assistant Principal, commenced the process of planning and establishing the school.

Nazareth was officially opened in the year 2000 (with the initial intake of the first Kindergarten class being housed at Stella Maris in 1999), when students commenced their education in what is now known as the Mary Ward building. From these humble beginnings Nazareth has grown to become one of two established Catholic primary schools (the other being Stella Maris) within the All Saints Parish, providing Catholic education to over 230 families and well over 400 students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

With the final stage of construction being completed in 2011, with the opening of a multi purpose hall, the school presents as an impressive facility, purpose built for learning.

The school’s Vision Statement states all that is central to the life of the school.

‘Nazareth is a learning community that strives to develop the whole person so as to find God in all things’

As a Catholic learning community Nazareth fosters a collaborative culture whereby staff work in partnership with parents so as to provide a high quality Catholic education for each and every child. With Christ as our role model a broad curriculum incorporating a wide variety of learning experiences for all students is offered on a daily basis. Within this context the school is strengthened through our alignment with an Ignatian spirituality, which provides a framework for reflective prayer for all members of the school community.

The content of this website will provide further practical details enabling you to gain a better understanding about the school. In doing so I hope it becomes clear that Nazareth Catholic Primary School is a place which develops responsible and respectful, life long learners who will be provided with every opportunity to seek God, acquire wisdom, build knowledge and promote peace so that God can be found in all things.
